Course overview

Building on WMD Awareness, this operations-level course trains personnel to take a defensive, protective role at a suspected WMD incident — including basic containment and support of specialized response teams.

This is the level where responders move from recognizing a threat to actively working around it — establishing control zones, supporting victim rescue in a way that doesn't compromise the scene, and staying useful to the specialized teams that follow.

What's the practical difference from Awareness level?

Awareness is about recognizing and reporting. Operations is about doing something — establishing zones, supporting rescue, working defensively around the hazard until specialized units take over.

Can our mutual aid partners train alongside us?

Yes, and it's often a good idea — CBRNE incidents rarely stay within one department's jurisdiction, so training together builds the coordination you'll actually need on scene.
